From renewable energy solutions to advanced AI the impact of technology is being felt by everyone in the world. The impact is vast and accelerating. Everyone has seen something published or discussed that is directly related to technology and the impact it is having globally. Let us for the sake of time elaborate on just a few areas that have been trending recently, with global reach.

We will break this down into a few areas and expand in other articles down the road. There have been many specific technologies that have had global reach in the last 5 years. These are not limited to but include:

  1. Mobile phones: Mobile phones have become ubiquitous and are used by billions of people around the world to communicate, access the internet, and perform a wide range of other tasks. Global mobile traffic is expected to reach 77.5 exabytes per to month Mobile devices account for more than 50% of all internet traffic, by the end of 2022. According to Statistica there will be 7,690 million mobile users by 2027.
  2. Cloud computing: Cloud computing has become increasingly popular in recent years and allows businesses and individuals to access computing resources and data storage over the internet, rather than having to maintain their own physical infrastructure. According to predictions from Gartner, global spending on cloud services is expected to reach over $482 billion in 2022, up from $313 billion in 2020. Cloud computing infrastructure is the backbone of the delivery pipeline of just about every digital service, from social media and streaming entertainment to connected cars and autonomous internet of things (IoT) infrastructure.
  3. Artificial intelligence (AI): AI has had a significant impact in a variety of industries, including healthcare, finance, and transportation. AI-powered tools and systems are being used to improve efficiency, automate tasks, and make better decisions. We are seeing the time when Hyper-Automation is reducing the time to do simple tasks and operating them at scale. Cyber security is fully embracing the AI to detect potential threats and take action, if necessary. And if you have not experienced ChatGPT released by OpenAI, then you are in for an experience that is profound in AI advancements, related to language and model processing.
  4. Internet of Things (IoT): The IoT refers to the network of physical devices, vehicles, and other objects that are connected to the internet and can collect and exchange data. The IoT has had a significant impact in many areas, including manufacturing, agriculture, and transportation. Think big for this one, because we will see the integration of all our devices into the world, we live in. Machine to Machine communication and information exchange is going to integrate our lives into Smart Cities, Smart Transportation, and Smart Lifestyle. All of these will be backed by various technologies like Digital Twins.
  5. Blockchain: Blockchain is a distributed database technology that allows for secure and transparent record-keeping and has the potential to transform many industries, including finance, supply chain management, and voting systems. Blockchain will give us new decentralized ways to interact with each other and break us from the central repositories and monolithic large systems. Blockchain and IoT are going to weave together solutions that will fundamentally change our lives.

These are just a few examples of technologies that have had global reach in the last 5 years. There are many other technologies that have also had significant impacts around the world. Let us dig into each of those as independent topics. I will post links here below as they are published.
